Asawa’s Plight: Medicus Iloilo City ER Responds

FEATURED
My asawa was in the front passenger seat of our Aurora Blue Ford Ranger suffering from an extreme abdominal pain attack. The Provincial Hospital in Guimaras, our home province, was unable to deal with the medical emergency. We sprinted toward the Jordan Wharf in Guimaras to catch a “special trip” nighttime pump boat ride to Iloilo City. My sister-in-law Alida was in the back seat. (more…)

Manila’s Last Honest Cab Driver?

FEATURED
During a recent trip to Pasay City, my asawa and I might have discovered Manila's last honest cab driver. At the Stone House Hotel, our base of operations, we used taxis to travel to nearby Mall of Asia. Not one single driver would go on meter, aside from one honest soul on our last trip to MOA. (more…)

The Chocolate Hills in Beautiful Bohol

FEATURED
During a recent day tour in Bohol, my asawa and I visited the Chocolate Hills, a geological formation in the Bohol province of the Philippines. There are at least 1,260 hills but there may be as many as 1,776 hills spread over an area of more than 50 square kilometers (20 sq mi). They are covered in green grass that turns brown (like chocolate) during the dry season, therefore the name. (more…)

Macho Man Gets Manicure & Pedicure at Posh Nails SM Seaside Cebu

FEATURED
I was in my early 40's before I went to my first nail salon. A Vietnamese family operated the clip joint at a strip mall in Springfield, Illinois.  A female co-worker who was always stylishly dressed and immaculately groomed recommended the establishment to me. Now when a "macho man" gets a manicure and pedicure for the first time in his life, that's a big event. But the Central Illinois outlet I went to certainly wasn't as high-class as the Posh Nails at SM Seaside Cebu that my asawa and I recently visited. (more…)
SM Seaside Cebu: An Amazing Adventure in Shopping

SM Seaside Cebu: An Amazing Adventure in Shopping

FEATURED
My asawa and I recently visited the "Queen City of the South" and visited the new SM Seaside Cebu. It was an amazing adventure in shopping. This Super Mall, the 3rd largest mall in the Philippines and 8th largest in the world, opened last November. Though all the retail outlets are not open yet, over 250 out of 447 stores are in operation,  making it a tourist destination I highly recommend. (more…)
