While having my cup of Good Day Vanilla Latte Coffee this morning I ran across some breaking news. The Philippines may allow fully vaccinated foreign tourists. The Philippines currently bars foreign tourists, and only a limited number of foreigners may enter the country.

The Philippines COVID-19 Task Force is currently studying the matter along with the Department of Tourism, DOT. However, don’t get too excited. Nothing ever happens in the Philippines in a timely fashion. The only exception to that is the rapid imposition of strict lockdowns. Every time a so-called new COVID-19 variant is discovered, the government seems to go into panic mode.

Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo Puyat said she had requested the IATF to consider establishing a “green lane.” Such a “green lane” would expedite the entry of foreigners fully vaccinated against the coronavirus. It might help the Philippines’ pandemic-hit tourism industry, the Secretary said.

However, don’t book those flights just yet.

The DOT did not specify when it is eyeing to implement the “green lane.”
