Nearby Earthquake Slams Our Guimaras Location

This will be a brief post. At 10:54 am this morning, November 5, I was sitting at my desk working on a new post. Suddenly, my whole room shook and the windows rattled! Earthquake! It only lasted a few seconds. I ran outside to see if my wife had felt the quake. She was OK but didn’t notice the quake.

After checking the official Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology website, PHIVOLCS, I discovered our municipality in Guimaras had experience three earthquakes this morning. One was only two kilometers away and registered 4.0 on the Richter scale.

Here’s a look at the latest PHILVOLCS screenshot. The 4.8 earthquake I experienced was 005 km NW of Guimbal, Iloilo on nearby Panay Island.

How ironic. Today is World Tsunami Awareness Day.

Remember, in case of an earthquake:

1. DROP to the ground

2. Take COVER by getting under a sturdy table or other piece of furniture

3. HOLD ON until the shaking stops.
