A BIG THANKS to Guimaras PIA Jaypee, Provincial Engineer Lolit, & Provincial Road Crew

It’s that time of year again in the Philippines, monsoon season.  The unpaved motorway to our new home had been in a desperate state of disrepair for weeks. Thanks to Guimaras Governor Gumarin and his Public Information Officer Jaypee Kein G. Entredicho, we were able to get our road mended during last year’s rainy season. With the vital assistance of our Provincial Engineering Dept., Chief Engineer Lolit in Guimaras, along with her hard-working crew of drivers and laborers, we are once again able to traverse our road.

Four-Wheel Drive?

We could have purchased a four-wheel drive vehicle years ago that would have cost an additional 500,000 pesos, 10,000 US dollars. I wasn’t willing to shell out the extra bucks. However, our Ford Ranger is said to have the second highest clearance of any truck in the Philippines, after the Land Rover, so we opted for the two-wheel drive, automatic transmission diesel-fueled Ranger.

The muddy road was difficult to drive on but not anymore!

Great improvement!

Permanent Repair on the Horizon?

We have received word from a neighbor who attended a meeting held by our local mayor that permanent road repairs on our thoroughfare are pending.

After the next road repair project in our municipality is completed, an overhaul of our boulevard will begin. That’s extremely encouraging news!

At one point we were not even able to even use our Ford Ranger as two inclines on our road were too dangerous to navigate. We had to walk out to the main road for two weeks and catch a ride from a tricycle to do our shopping. However, Engineer Lolit and her crew came through for us this past Thursday and did additional road grading and dumped truckloads of white rock which has made our road a joy to ride on again.

A BIG THANKS to Guimaras Guv Gumarin’s PIA Jaypee, Provincial Engineer Lolit,  & the Provincial Road Crew

It’s a blessing to have such a responsive group of government officials and employees that respond to the concerns of their residents.
