Man Bites Police Dog: No Filipinos Hurt

Man Bites Police Dog: No Filipinos Hurt

While “Man Bites Police Dog: No Filipinos Hurt” might appear to be a bizarre headline, it’s really not that odd. Let me explain.

“PH condemns missile attack in Saudi Arabia; no Filipinos hurt”…

Shouted a headline from today’s Manila Times.

I was glad that no Filipinos were hurt, according to the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA.) Yemen terrorists fired seven ballistic missiles toward Saudi Arabia all of which were intercepted and destroyed by Saudi air defense systems.

However, an Egyptian man was killed and two others injured when missile fragments fell on their house in Riyadh. Nevertheless, Philippines, no Filipinos were injured.

Really? What are the odds of any Filipino actually being injured or killed in the first place during the missile strike?

The Department of Foreign Affairs puts out these asinine announcements all over the world whenever any incident involving fatalities or injuries occurs.

No Filipino hurt in France terror attack

Case in point, another recent headline from The Philippine Star on March 25, 2018: “No Filipino hurt in France terror attack”… Department of Foreign Affairs.

Sadly, three people were killed and two people injured in an ISIS-inspired shooting but none were Filipinos, according to the DFA.

Again, among the millions of people that reside in France what were the chances of a Filipino being killed in the shooting attack?

However, if North Korea decides to junk their upcoming meeting with President Donald Trump and fires off a couple of nukes towards Guam or Hawaii, then, I would find a response from the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs to be appropriate.

OFWs all over the world

Look, I get it. Over 10 million Overseas Filipino Workers, OFWs, are dispatched throughout all corners of the planet. But seriously, if someone falls down and scratches their knee, there’s really no reason for the DFA to issue a “No Filipinos were hurt” bulletin.

Facebook Messenger will probably get the word out faster than the DFA in the first place, so relax DFA.

And what about that “man bites police dog” reference? The New York Post reported on January 23, 2018, that a New Hampshire man was charged with resisting arrest and biting a police dog.

Police say the man unsuccessfully tried to hide under a pile of clothes to evade arrest over the weekend and then put the police dog in a chokehold and bit it on the head. The police dog, shown in the lead photo, has recovered from the attack and has been given medical clearance.

No Filipinos were hurt in the attack.
