Bizarre Foods in the Philippines
Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern is a show I've watched many times on The Travel Channel. If you've never gotten to see the episode when Andrew traveled to the Philippines, here's a shortened version of that episode. The crazy Zimmern eats balut (pictured bellow), a Filipino classic that I haven't been brave enough to try yet, which is featured in the first video. The second video focuses on a market in Metro Manila, and the third video features a restaurant which serves traditional Filipino food which is disappearing from the modern Philippines. I've posted the first three videos from YouTube from this episode and will feature more clips later. Hope you enjoy the videos.

Had balut once, on the first visit to meet my future asawa, wanted to be cool in front of her. Now she’s daring me to try it again on our next visit home to the Phils in two weeks. Will I be so “cool” again? Have to let you know! The aphrodisiac aspect of balut is intruiging, though. Maybe the girls should try it first, eh?
When I think of balut……The 6-N rule comes to mind…….NEVER–NO HOW–NO WAY–NOPE–NADA–NOT IN YOUR LIFE

I tried balut once, didn’t really like the taste and the feathers going down my throat tickled a bit. In no big rush to try it again.

I only did the goldfish, Gary. I was 19. Had a plastic wading pool in front of the store I was working in, and it was filled with goldfish. Thought it would be good for a laugh. Almost choked on it.
